Northwest Custom Apparel > Custom Apparel and Printing Services in Washington State > Custom Embroidered Sweatshirts & Hoodies
In the Pacific Northwest, a high-quality hoodie is daily workwear. From tech campuses in Bellevue to construction sites in Tacoma, your team needs gear that handles the rain and cold while maintaining a professional image. Northwest Custom Apparel provides industrial-grade embroidery that turns standard fleece into premium branded apparel.
Since 1977, we have operated as the premier decoration house in the region. We produce every order at our family-owned facility in milton. We give you direct access to the production floor so you know exactly who is handling your brand.

For over 47 years, we’ve been the trusted embroidery partner for contractors, HVAC teams, landscapers, service businesses, and more. Here’s why:
Many business owners ask if they should screen print or embroider their hoodies. For fleece, the answer is technical.
Sweatshirt fabric has a high “loft” or texture. When you apply ink (screen printing) to this fuzzy surface, the ink sits on top of the fibers. Over time, washing and stretching cause the ink to crack or peel.
Embroidery works differently. Our industrial Tajima machines drive thread through the fabric to create a physical bond. The design becomes part of the garment structure. This creates a three-dimensional look that conveys higher value and lasts as long as the sweatshirt itself.
The most critical attribute of a custom sweatshirt is the Fabric Weight. We measure this in ounces per square yard. Selecting the wrong weight results in a logo that puckers or a shirt that is too hot for indoor work.
We categorize our inventory into three distinct classes to help you select the perfect match for your intended use.
| Fleece Category | Weight (GSM/Oz) | Best Application | Recommended Brands |
| Mid-Weight Fleece | 7.8 – 8.5 oz | Indoor offices, corporate events, and layering. | Port Authority, Jerzees |
| Heavy-Weight Fleece | 10 – 13 oz | Outdoor construction, trades, and cold weather. | Carhartt, Champion |
| Performance Fleece | Synthetic Blend | Gyms, sports teams, and active use. | Nike, Sport-Tek, Ogio |
For our clients in the trades, durability is the only metric that matters. Northwest Custom Apparel is an authorized supplier of Carhartt workwear.
The “Rain Defender” and “Paxton” heavy-weight lines are staples for crews in Eastern Washington and the greater Seattle area. These garments use a tightly knit cotton face that provides a stable canvas for embroidery. Our production team uses specialized backing and heavy-duty needles to punch through this thick fabric without breaking threads or distorting your logo.
We are not an internet middleman. We are a brick-and-mortar manufacturer with a team of 15 dedicated staff members.
When you order from an online broker, they often ship your goods to the lowest bidder. That shop might be in a different state with zero quality control. At Northwest Custom Apparel, we manage every step of the process right here in Milton:
You are welcome to visit our showroom at 2025 Freeman Rd E, Milton, WA to feel the different fabric weights before you buy.

Exceptional prices and great customer service. My work had us come in here to try on some jackets and hats. Noticed they make embroided patches too! Very nice quality productsPosted on Google![]()

We have used Northwest Customs for 2-3 years now at Special Services Landscaping for hats, hoodies and uniforms. We have used the embroidery and the heat press and both have lasted and are stuff we still use today. Great company couldn’t recommend more.Posted on Google![]()

Unacceptable service and zero accountability. From one small business to another. We are incredibly disappointed with our experience here. I placed a large order worth over $1,200.00 for custom gear. This company already had our official logo and color specifications on hand, so there was absolutely no reason for this mistake. Despite having the correct assets, they completely messed up the final product. When they dropped us the product our Rep even stated... Oh this is wrong, don't worry you don't have to pay for the stitching. We asked what about our damaged gear? She said there is nothing they can do. So when we reached out to resolve the issue, management refused to take responsibility and flatly stated there was "nothing they could do." It is completely wrong that they ruined our gear and our hard-earned money for a botched order and then offer zero solutions. Save your money and take your business elsewhere. They obviously do not stand behind their work and have zero regard for customer service.Posted on Google![]()

We use NW custom for our program, their embroidery done in-house is very well done, identical to the proof of concept. The response time is great when making adjustments to the e-store or when working through third parties for patches. I’d recommend them for any size program!Posted on Google![]()

Yes, you can mix garment colors and sizes within the same order. As long as the embroidered logo remains the same size and uses the same thread colors, we count the total number of pieces to determine your volume discount. This allows you to offer your team a variety of color options without paying a higher unit price.
If you need your project done quickly, our rush order embroidery services with a 25% rush fee can help you. Please call ahead to verify our production capacity to ensure that we can accommodate your needs.
We have flexible minimums depending on the project scope. For standard corporate orders, we typically start at 6 to 24 pieces to provide the best bulk pricing. However, we can handle single-piece orders for personalization or samples. Please contact our sales team to discuss your specific quantity needs.
We use a specific technique called “Knockdown Stitching” or heavy topping. Fleece is fluffy. Without proper stabilization, stitches can sink into the pile and disappear. Our digitizers add a structural underlay of stitches that mats down the fabric fur before sewing the visible logo on top. This ensures your text remains crisp and readable.
Pricing depends on factors like design complexity, stitch count, order quantity, and apparel type. Here’s a general breakdown:

Yes, we offer contract embroidery services for items you already own. If you have specific inventory or unique vintage items, we can embroider them. We require a waiver for customer-supplied goods as we cannot replace the item if a machine error occurs. Please visit our Contract Embroidery Page for full details on this policy.
We prefer vector art files such as .AI, .EPS, or .PDF. These formats allow us to scale your logo without losing clarity. If you only have a JPG or PNG, our art department can re-draw the design for a small fee to prepare it for the digitizing process.
